Bush Creates Position to Fight Piracy

July 23rd, 2005

President Bush has created a new senior position to fight piracy and the theft of intellectual property. Analysts believe that software piracy and other theft of intellecutal property is costing the US 250 billion each year in revenue.

Software piracy is a big concern for US business especially in third world developing countries like China and India. The new US position will focus on fighting Intellectual property theft in such countries and work with governments to make sure they maintain stiff anti-piracy laws. It is not uncommon for people to be able to buy new software and movies for one US dollar days after release.

As American continues to develop new technology more and more companies are selling intellectual property such as movies, music and games. These technologies account for a larger percent of American income. Knowing that fact it becomes imperative for America to crack down on such practice and strive to stop the theft of intellectual property.
